Right now I want to share with you some thoughts about the first full-length of the Ukrainian band Statist. This band created something really interesting and unusual. This album is about the war and it was recorded during the war… that is so surreal and crazy. Lower Class Kids Records released this album as a regular black tape and a super beautiful hand-colored yellow and blue variant. That label really loves DIY!
Antitötalitar begins with an air alarm siren (must say that bring some unpleasant flashbacks). And then guys starting to blast! The whole material is like a puzzle it consists of different pieces. You will catch grindcore, hardcore, death metal and some more genres. That`s because all members of the band were involved in the creation process (and all of them have their own taste in music). I think the result is worth it. The sound is a bit clear but pleasantly heavy and crispy. The guitar tone is very “metal” to my taste, but it fits great among wild screams and blastbeats. Every next song is a mystery, you’ll never guess how everything will turn in the next second. In my opinion, this is the strongest and coolest side of this story.
