Suppression – Oblivion Rats

Today I will talk about a massive compilation of the legends Suppression. These guys are one of these stones in the wall of the American grind scene. This year guys will celebrate their 30th anniversary, so you can imagine how much they have done for the genre and how many releases they have. “Oblivion Rats” contains all material starting from 2015 till 2017 years. How many songs are on that CD? Any guess? 99 fucking songs, holy cow… That is insane, haha! So this bodybag is full of goodies, you will find tracks from the Rats In The Control Room cassette (2015), Oblivion Riders cassette (2016), songs from splits with Sedem Minut Strachu (2017) / Landfill (7) (2017) Sulfuric Cautery (2017) / Reeking Cross (2017) / Flvx Capacitor (2018) / Energumeno (2016) and a bunch of songs from Lazy Bastards Compilation and Pieces compilation(2017). I must admit that Suppression is a very productive band, hehe…

The first word that comes to mind when listening to this music is “monstrous”. This noisegrind explosion outstands with super powerful energy, the energy that is full of aggression and hate, the energy that simply destroys your identity. I was lucky to catch this band on the stage, must say that show was wonderful… I could not imagine that only two guys could smash the crowd! All songs are very short (under 1 minute, mostly 20 seconds) but they are also fucking furious. The sound is dense, a bit raw and extremely loud. Some tracks have pitch-shifted vocal, some just angry yelling. This duo trying different approaches, they are using a lot of other effects, and that works really fine. Suppression is truly a legend, and they also never disappoint!
