Italy is not a world grindcore capital, but it has some good bands. There is a small town called Viareggio where is living one interesting man. Michele is his name, and this guy is very active and pretty talented. That is him who created Yakisoba, Carbonized Innocents is his work too, Sociopathic Behavior – yep, and the list of his projects is huge. But for today’s write up I want to concentrate on his latest band Necrotized Mass. “Red Death” is an ode to old bands like Repulsion, early Napalm Death, Deceased, and Impetigo. If you love such moldy tunes, then stay with us.
In total, we have only 4 songs, not too much but these tracks are great! This material is messy, raw but it has a fire! The riffs are primitive, the guitar sound is inexpressive, there are one-string solos as well. And know what, that shit sounds great! Also, Michele used a classical growls style of vocal, which perfectly fits this furious mess. Hammering drumming is made in an old farting way, with the appropriate sound. This guy totally dig the old school atmosphere and managed to embody it in this noise.
“Red Death” is a great present for all fans of old days music. Not sure if fans of the bands like Nails of Full Of Hell could like this tape, but people who love 90th grindcore and death metal will love this one!
Rating: 8/10 Necrotized Mass bc
