Crucifix Mission – S/T (Bloody Scythe Records)

The last few days I’ve listened to this tape about 6 or 8 times and obliviously I want to share my thought with you. So this self-titled tape is a strong debut from Southern California’s hardcore band Crucifix Mission. It`s short (only 5 tracks here) but robust work with simple artwork that depicting mighty Gorgon Medusa. Actually, I have nothing to say more about the look of this tape, this is well done but super usual tape release.

However, the music part of this cassette is much better! I have no idea when this recording was done and from what city these guys are, but this stuff surprised me. Punchy, full of energy and rage, this hardcore sounds really good. The production is great, a bit clean on my taste but someone made a good job. The main aspect of this material is aggression, especially the vocal, I can feet that John was pissed off when he was recording his part, ha! Also, the guys used two guitars, but, honestly, I didn’t catch the difference, but on the other hand, I don’t know what result the guys tried to reach. Like in the most hardcore or punk bands the bass guitar has a great crunchy sound (and I fucking love it). I believe that guys tried their best and the result is more than good!

If you love hardcore and powerviolence, if you love to mush at the shows, and if you hate bands like Madball then this release is for you.

Rating: 7.5/10  Crucifix Mission bc
