Today’s story will be about young debuts, I’m going to write a few words about the first record of German Haexler. They marked themselves as a powerviolence band, but in my opinion, we have here a mix of different sub-genres. In this record, I found some grindcore parts, some modern jumping hardcore, and some pv of course. But let’s go in order…
This 7” starts with the atmospheric and sad intro “Climb”, which reminds me of some post-hardcore bands or blackened crust stuff. The second song “Hide” sounds very modern with the beat down tricks (which I don’t really like), and that almost made me push the stop button. I’m glad that I didn’t do that because the next songs were full of rage and nice blast beats. I like how the vocalist trying to spit his lungs out, that are honest screams with hate and aggression. Songs like “Excuse” and “Pretend ” shows a powerviolence side of this band. Both of them full of nice fuzzy bass vibrations and great guitar noises too. Everything ends with gloomy “Persist” which is a bright mix of nowadays hardcore and pv.
Although the “Blankness, Bleakness” is not really my cup of tea, this is a strong debut. I`m recommending it to fans of modern powerviolence (like Gets Worse) and hardcore.
Rating: 7/10 Haexler bc
Remember guys, keep the underground music scene strong by supporting the artist/band/labels. Ask a band about the copy.
